Sunday - breakfast in bed day.
This week's Sunday breakfast required zero effort - it was a combination of all the food made over the week! :)
Tzatziki and hummus were made way in advance and stored in the fridge - a strategic move to prevent myself from snacking on junk food, and from bingeing on my favourite Doritos. The baby carrots were bought keeping in mind the ease of access and to assure my lazy self that low calorie food was within easy reach!
Tomato soup was a mid-week left over, the remnant of a healthy soup and Ceasar salad (with Greek yogurt dressing) dinner.
Soup, vegetables and dips - the perfect, low calorie, healthy start to a cold and lazy Sunday, spent under covers, watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S.!
This blog is about food. Food as an art. Food as an expression. Food as something that we have in common. Food that inspires. Food that lends itself to experimentation. Food thats made for everyone.

Yogurt Delight: An easy and delicious breakfast!
Like flavoured yogurt? Make it at home!
For you lovers of yogurt, fruits and breakfast, here is a simple, delicious yet energising start for your day!
This easy breakfast can be made the night before and stored in the fridge till such time you want to eat it.
Here goes the recipe!
What you'll need -
Low fat yogurt, blueberries, chopped strawberries, cornflakes, muesli, raisins and honey.
A juice glass
Step-by-step preparation:
Put two spoonfuls of yogurt in the juice glass
Put a layer of muesli and raisins on top of the yogurt
Top with a layer of yogurt
Top yogurt with chopped strawberries
Add a layer of yogurt
Add a layer of cornflakes - I use Kelloggs K yogurt and berry flavour
Top that with a layer of yogurt
Throw in the blueberries (you can also use banana, payaya, mango - any seasonal fruit that you like!) and add a little muesli
Add another layer of yogurt, that's the last layer
Take care that the layers are visible
On the top layer, lay down the strawberry slices, add 3-4 blueberries, sprinkle some cornflakes for the crunch and drizzle with honey.
Voila! Breakfast is ready!
The best part about the Yogurt Delight - you can make it as many layers, in any order with any fruits that you like. The idea is to have a breakfast which looks pretty and keeps you going on a long day!

Recipe: Herb Dip!
I decided to experiment and see where my culinary explorations will take me and started with the safest option possible - dip.
Now, a dip is as good a place as any to start because 1) it is a side and there are other things to balance it out if something goes wrong and 2) it's a BIG hit if everything goes right!
Since I was focussing heavily on the main course and dessert that night, I thought I'd put together a simple dip with ingredients available on the kitchen slab. We are big fans of garlic and lemon which is a definitely a plus when it comes to curd based dips, so I used garlic powder with a liberal hand. The garlic and lemon give it a sharp tangy kick and the peanuts give texture and add crunch.
Here goes my recipe for the herby dip!
Ingredients:
Curd, even better if you use hung curd
Grated parmesan cheese (optional)
1 tbs lemon juice
Garlic powder
Chilli flakes
Dried oregano
Dried basil
Dried parsley
1 tsp olive oil
Salt
Freshly ground pepper
Roasted and crushed peanuts (those allergic to peanuts can substitute with almonds)
To prepare:
Combine the curd and peanuts with the herbs and garlic powder in a bowl.
Add salt and pepper. Mix well.
Add lemon juice and olive oil and mix.
Garnish with parmesan - be careful with the quantity as a lot of people don't enjoy the sharp taste of this variety of cheese much.
Serve chilled and enjoy!
This is a perfect accompaniment for lavash, cheese sticks (as above), soya sticks, khakra, cream cracker biscuit etc.
Do tell me if you liked it - would love to hear from you, get feedback and learn from you! :)

Pancake day
Opened my eyes to bright, sunny Sunday morning. It was one of those days where you wanted to head to the kitchen and make something beautiful and vibrant. Not so much to eat it but to marvel at the colours and feast on it with the eyes. The sort of Sunday which makes you fall in love with cooking for someone you love.
Homemade pancakes to me make for the perfect holiday breakfast - easy to make, delicious to taste and allows for leisurely eating. And oh, did I mention, it's one of the things that is so open to interpretation and experimentation!
These Sunday pancakes were made with flour (maida), sugar, milk, hint of salt, dash of butter, whiff of baking powder and spoonfuls of honey. Topped with yogurt, fresh strawberries and grapes, and rounded off with honey for those with a sweet tooth.
Heaven!
